Black Tea

Black tea is the most popular and widely produced type of Ceylon tea, recognized globally for its bold flavor, rich aroma, and bright copper-colored brew. Grown in regions such as Nuwara Eliya, Uva, Dimbula, and Ruhuna, Sri Lankan black tea reflects the diversity of the island’s climate and elevation. High-grown teas like those from Nuwara Eliya are lighter and more floral, while low-grown teas from Ruhuna are stronger, fuller-bodied, and more robust. Black tea is carefully withered, rolled, oxidized, and dried to achieve its characteristic strength and depth of flavor. It is enjoyed both plain and with milk, making it a versatile beverage for all tastes. Ceylon black tea is highly prized in international markets and is often blended with teas from other origins, though the single-origin pure Ceylon variety is considered superior for its unique freshness and quality.
